Jemand stürzte zu SAH und rief aufgeregt: “SAH, komm schnell! Ein Wunder ist
geschehen!”
SAH macht ein beleidigtes Gesicht, winkt mit den Händen ab und sagt in
eingeschnapptem Tonfall: “Ich muss gar nichts!”

Needs are the driving forces behind our actions. They motivate us and are what we strive for to lead a fulfilling life.
Needs differ from desires or preferences. A desire might be a trip to an unknown country today and a new professional challenge tomorrow. Both desires stem from the need for new experiences.
Needs are universal and constant, while desires vary and are specific. Every person has the same fundamental needs, such as security, love, recognition, and nourishment, regardless of cultural, gender, or age-related differences.
There are numerous strategies to fulfill a need. To gain security, I might arm or disarm myself. To receive love, I can either bind someone to me or let them go. To obtain recognition, I might destroy or build. Nourishment can be stolen, bought, or grown myself.
Some strategies are ineffective or even harmful — both to ourselves and others. They are used not out of malice but because we do not know better alternatives. By nature, we prefer what fulfills us over what harms us.
